Julian Elliott - 10.30 - 11.30 am

Julian has been a photographer since April 2005 when he decided he would rather spend his time on the side of a freezing cold hill getting superb light at dawn or seeing the setting sun produce an endless display of colour over the coastal landscapes, mirrored on a beach full of shimmering sands than in the comfort of a cosy office.  His approach to photography is simple, get it right in camera first and don't spend needless time in front of a PC having to adjust various exposures, merging images, etc., all in the name of trying to get the perfect picture.

His portfolio includes commissions from Digital SLR User magazine, Digital Camera Mag and Photo Plus. The Mairie de Tours in France has also commissioned his work for use in their publicity material. His work can be found with the following image libraries: Photo Library, Arcaid, PPL and Alamy.  Julian will be answering questions on stage with British Journal of Photography's deputy editor Olivier Laurent.

Stand Your Ground - Film screening followed by Q&A with Grant Smith - 1.15 - 2.15 pm

Presented by the London Street Photography Festival

The film Stand Your Ground was made in June 2011 to explore the policing of public and private space by private security firms in the City and their reaction to photographers.  The film follows six photographers as they attempt to photograph different streets and buildings.  All six photographers were stopped by private security guards on at least one occasion.  Three encounters led to police intervention.

Following the film a panel of photographers, activists and law enforcers attended the debate 'Why Does Street Photography Make Us Paranoid' to discuss the increasing fear of photography in the city.  Selected clips from the debate will also be shown.

The film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Grant Smith, one of the photographers who features in the film and founding memberof I'm a Photographer Not a Terrorist.
